dusk/dawn
Hilary DePolo
Poetry
My reactions to all that is happening in the world has been in my dreams. My days are filled by my to-do list - my nights are haunted.
My medium is words - and it is with my words I hope I can convey how unsettling these days are for me - and for us all!
dusk/dawn
dusk to dawn for Rumi the Beloved arises in our hearts like the full moon
dusk to dawn for me dream images cryptic messages sent from the other side
dusk to dawn I surrender control what will happen tonight
dusk to dawn a lover breathes deeply next to me or
dusk to dawn I wander the bed alone
dusk to dawn cross the border explore the hem of my day
dusk to dawn I dizzy as images spin the magazine of my life shreds
dusk to dawn bits of time scatter across dark terrain
dusk to dawn I reach for Noni’s soft hand as she washes my face
dusk to dawn jump a deep crevasse to follow a necessary path
dusk to dawn I hear Ma call it is time
dusk to dawn Pa answers the call leaves this life descends to watery depths
dusk to dawn I struggle against attack a knife slashes the wall
dusk to dawn gag on a cry for help
dusk to dawn I am held in the outer realm
dusk to dawn watch the violated wall melt into the Big Lake
dusk to dawn I cross the sand as it burns
dusk to dawn under the heat of the full moon
dusk to dawn I never reach cooling waters
dusk to dawn wake sweaty to the lesson of a new day
