Swallowtail Posing
Mary Byington
Watercolor
One morning during the pandemic, Les & I were sitting outside having our coffee. Along fluttered this giant, gorgeous butterfly. He flew past our coffee cups and landed on a sunflower that had volunteered itself to grow right in the middle of the Russian Sage. The butterfly posed for me, allowing me to take several photos with my cell phone. I just had to paint him. This watercolor painting is the result.
